Origin and history

Quinoa comes from South America and was used as a staple by the Incas in Peru and Bolivia 6000 years ago. The Spanish conquerors are said to have imposed the death penalty to those found cultivating quinoa because they attributed the inexplicable powers of the Incas to the consumption of quinoa.

Properties and advantages

The quinoa plant seed, which is approximately 3 millimeters small, really has it all!

The pseudo-grain quinoa belongs to the goose family and is one of the few plant foods that contain all nine essential amino acids which the body cannot produce itself. In addition, quinoa contains a high proportion of protein, minerals, vitamins, and unsaturated fatty acids as well as a lot of fiber, which stimulates digestion and is filling. The tryptophan found in quinoa ensures that many vital processes in the body can take place at all. One of these is the increase in the level of serotonin in the brain, which is responsible for the well-being and good mood. The valuable ingredients of quinoa can also have a positive effect on your body, complexion, and hair.
